Writing Secrets Revealed

I just returned from the Texas Library Association convention in San Antonio. We listened to inspirational speakers, other librarians sharing their programs and ideas, storytellers spinning a yarn and authors revealing their writing secrets. And you know what? There really is no secret to great writing. Those authors struggle for ideas and agonize over revisions just like you do when asked to do a writing assignment. They all say the same thing - don't give up. Stay with it. Have others read your work and make suggestions. Look for ideas in the simple details of everyday life. And most of all - read! Read, read, read. Those are the great "secrets" of becoming a great writer. And if they can do it, you can, too!
